3 December 2025
The Portuguese National Team has entered a new chapter in its history with PUMA as the official match kit partner. Since January 1, 2025, the German brand has been outfitting all teams under the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), including men’s and women’s squads, futsal, beach soccer, and even eFootball.
This long-term partnership reinforces the FPF’s commitment to providing players and fans with top-quality kits that combine innovation, tradition, and sustainability.
The timing couldn’t be more symbolic: with qualification for the 2026 World Cup already secured, Portugal now unveils its new home jersey, set to be worn on football’s biggest stage.
The New Portugal 2026 Home Jersey: Ocean Energy and National Pride
The Portuguese National Team’s new home jersey, officially launched on December 3, is much more than sportswear. It is a statement of identity and ambition.
Inspired by the energy of the ocean, which has always shaped Portugal’s history and adventurous spirit, the jersey combines the iconic red base with a wave-inspired pattern and green details. This design pays tribute to the country’s maritime roots and conveys the courage of a team that never stops moving forward.
Marco Mueller, Senior Director of Product Line Management Performance Apparel at PUMA, explained: “With the new Portugal 2026 home jersey, we wanted to capture the nation’s deep connection to the ocean and bring that energy onto the pitch. The wave-inspired pattern and bold red and green palette reflect a team that never stops advancing, fueled by passion and courage. From our ULTRAWEAVE performance fabric to the RE:FIBRE sustainability initiative, every detail was designed to give players and fans a jersey that not only looks powerful but truly means something. This jersey is for everyone who plays for the love of the game.”
João Medeiros Cardoso, General Director of FPF Comercial, added: “This jersey carries the soul of Portugal, the strength of our ocean, the courage that defines us, and the pride of millions of Portuguese who feel the National Team with unique emotion. Together with PUMA, we wanted to create a symbol that not only honors our roots but also projects Portugal to the world, reflecting the ambition to take our identity to new markets and new fans. But at the heart of it all, we always keep those who inspire us every day: the Portuguese people. It is for them, first and foremost, that we create something they can wear with pride and carry wherever they go.”
Home and Authentic Jerseys: Performance and Comfort
The new jersey is available in two distinct versions:
• Authentic Jersey – worn by players on the pitch, made with PUMA’s ULTRAWEAVE fabric, reducing weight and friction for maximum performance.
• Home Jersey – designed for fans, offering the same striking design but with a more comfortable fit, perfect for match days or everyday wear.
Both versions feature dryCELL technology, helping players and fans stay dry and comfortable even during the most intense moments.
Sustainability and Real Commitment
PUMA reinforces its sustainability commitment through the RE:FIBRE initiative, applied to the home jerseys. This process reuses recycled textile waste to create new materials without compromising quality or performance. With at least 95% of recycled textile waste and other polyesters used, this jersey represents an important step toward more circular and responsible production.
Each jersey is not only a symbol of pride but also a statement of environmental responsibility, aligned with the values of a country that looks to the future with ambition and awareness.
PUMA: A Legacy of Champions
PUMA’s connection to sports is marked by legendary moments. From Jesse Owens, four-time Olympic champion in 1936, to Pelé, who wore PUMA King boots at the 1970 World Cup, the German brand has accompanied some of the greatest names in history. Eusébio, our “Black Panther”, was also part of this legacy, taking Portugal to the top at the 1966 World Cup.
Today, PUMA continues to sponsor stars like Neymar, Luis Suárez, Griezmann, and Pulisic, as well as renowned clubs such as Manchester City, AC Milan, and Olympique de Marseille. Portugal now joins this constellation of champions, reinforcing its place among the world’s most respected national teams.
The Future of the Portuguese National Team with PUMA
With the qualification for the 2026 World Cup already secured, the partnership between FPF and PUMA takes on even greater significance. Portugal is preparing to face football’s biggest challenges with renewed confidence, equipped with cutting-edge technology and a design that unites tradition and modernity.
This jersey is not just for athletes. It is also for fans who live every match intensely, who cheer from the stands or in front of the screen, and who carry with them the true “love for the jersey.”
The 2026 World Cup will be the stage where Portugal promises to play, fight, and perhaps conquer. For players and fans alike, wearing this jersey is a commitment to history and to the future. It’s trusting that love for the jersey will carry Portugal’s spirit across the world.
